What kind of overall art style do we think we wanna go with?
The Farcical nature of the game lends itself very easily to a cartoon style. And that is what I had initially assumed.
But as we have been talking and filling out the character and location, the interesting place we seem headed is a darker more gritty realism. I guess what i'm asking is from what we have so far what style direction should we take...do we want to take the player to zany cartoon action or a more fever pitched darker place, where the characters ability is almost an infernal curse...a man in agony...a man of fire.
Or somewhere else :)

Hi everyone! First of all, Cool Blog Terry.
I'll get to the point. For the art style of this game. I can see various of style we can go for.
However, I prefer the fantasy style. It like somewhere between realistic and cartoon.
I'll try to find example for you guys.
Yes alot of graphic novels straddle that gap well...
Maybe sincity?
I can feel the need for bombing this site with examples off the www. real soon
I agree nice blog terry.
I think for a game like this simplicity is the key. From wat i have gathered from the short script the game the games tension come from the frantic need to blow things up. Based on this the player will be scrambling round frantically trying to blow things up not really checking out the amount of detail on that high rez texture. I think a more cartoony style or even wat parot mentioned are good visual styles for a game of this nature. Any thoughts?
Yep this game would go down a treat toon style. I keep thinking how we got 30 artists to keep entertained :), Also I picture the explosions as being quite visually stunning, I would love to have an explosion slo mo feature for the particularly pretty..er..blooms!
But the FX have also gotta sit harmoniously with the modeling/texturing.
Whichever way I think the gameplay is focused enough to switch styles if needs be when it comes to concept art.
Also whatever style we go with wacky/dark humour is a winner.
Guys I need to chat to Terry but as we stated friday lets get the look feel and color going grab a few textures each
We need to think about the main look and feel of the factory and explosives cases crates barrlels pallets thinking about the art styles you have commented on.

to have a visual with the verbal,
as we discussed friday.
Lets KEEP IT SIMPLE these basics .... let me know what else and w'ell set em up next to each other my last group was behind due to textural anomalies and lack of design document . Hear from you soon.
