Dialogue

Some things I'd like from people are, quotes for:

1. The boss via the loudspeaker eg."Don't expect a toilet break if you're going to blow the toilet up!" "Get back to work you freak!"

2. Co-workers "It burns!" "sombody blow up that loud speaker"

3. Weapon Tester "Look, I'm just doing my job Ok" "Oops, calibrations way off on this thing. Sorry!"

About Keith

Parot has come up with details on Keith to help kick start me on the Mission Statement - thanks Parot!
This is about KEITH
KEITH has a special power. His power only exist when he feel stress from situation around him. the strength of his power will vary to stress. the more stress he has, the more power he's got. He can't

control his stress level, and stress in his brain will cause his head to swelling up. To release stress, KEITH need to blow up some thing no matter what it is. Once he release his power his stress level

will drop as well as his head size. (I don't think he need to take the pill to control it.) At this point player will feel stress from the game as Keith's head growing, and player will feel the tension from the

flashing light, siren sound and other worker's scream.

(Question: Does Keith need explosive to be able to explode things?
if yes, it mean he can only cause ignition to the explosive but not explode thing purely by his power.)
if no, he can blow up anything he wants without using TNT, so the set can be any where. It doesn't have to be a factory, it can be office or shopping centre.)

KEITH's
Characteristics

Normal Stage (possibly at the begining and the end of the game) - Always looks Funny and Happy
- So, no need for him to blow up stuff when he is happy.
Panic Stage (after alarm went off)
-Turn Red and Look stressful / mad
- Swelling up head as stress building up

Where KEITH is works? (Where is the game take place?)
- A factory that contains explosive devices.
- For example: Mining Area, Firework factory, ....more

What's happen in KEITH's work place? (Any event that cause stress to KEITH's brain)
- Flame
- Fire Alarm,
- Flashing Lights
- Workers Scream
- ......more

What does KEITH need to do?
- escape from the place (Main Goal)
- help other trap workers (long term goal)
- find escape path (short term goal)
- .....more

Obstacles to KEITH's escape
- Fire/Flame
- ThickWall can't be exploded
- Metal Scraps and Pipe
- Wooden Boxes
- .....more

How KEITH will overcome Obstacles?
- Need to blow up certain thing to make an escape path
- Help other workers and obtain useful item to help KEITH escape (Map, Key, Fire Extinguisher,...more)

Well that's my idea, but I don't know which section I should put. so I sent to you and you can decide where this should go on the blog....

cheers,

Parot

Refocus on gameplay

OK so direction from Paul:

"Think about how you want the player to feel about the character - sympathy? empathy? humour? sorrow? - then try and bring that into the rest of the world."

"Take a step back, figure out what the game is: is it funny? is it serious? is it story-centric? is it puzzle-centric? When you have that core, build around that. I think you'll find creating a style first is going to heavily restrict how you think about the gameplay & the mechanics."

So back to gameplay - which in essence will be puzzle but quite reflexive, frenetic, think the tension of Tetris when it gets hectic BANG BANG BANG, then we can always slow down play with focus/meditation/sedation.
Also, I don't want it to feel like a pixel game, where you know absolutely the expected results of a detonation. Blast/range should feel like a subjective combination of pyro-power charge and object(s) chosen. So the player is hoping that other objects in the corner of their eye are not gonna get caught in a chain reaction.
